THE BASIC FORMULA TO ONLINE SUCCESS
This plan is basic, it is not a detailed list on how to make money online but a basic model of the steps that I use to become successful in any niche I choose. I will be releasing more detailed reports and instructions on this website and in the newsletter.
The Mind Set:
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race” Calvin Coolidge
“You can only get what you want, if you help enough people get what they want “Zig Ziggler”
These 2 quotes above are really at the very core for online success,
The first thing you need to become successful online is a willingness to help others.
Don’t ever be shy about giving away too much, put yourself out there, show what you know, become a part of the lives of those you intend to help. Don’t feel that if you give away too much information, they won’t buy your future products, because, they will.
Become a trusted leader in your chosen niche, and they will follow, they will buy from you time and time again.
The second thing you must have is persistence.
Success online is not get rich quick, but it can be get rich forever.
You must be willing to put in the work up front, you must be willing to be there for the long haul, no one wants to take advice from anyone that is fly by night, here today and gone tomorrow, you must prove that you can be a leader in your field and that no matter what you’re not going away, and that you are willing to put it all on the line for nothing in return. If you can do this, then the returns will come a thousand fold.
You will be thought of as a respected honest true leader in your market place, and your advice will be sought after by those who wish to achieve the type of success you have.
Brainstorm some possible niches
What is a niche?
According to Dictionary.com a “Niche” is:
1. An ornamental recess in a wall or the like, usually semicircular in plan and arched, as for a statue or other decorative object.
2. A place or position suitable or appropriate for a person or thing: to find one’s niche in the business world.
3. A distinct segment of a market.
4. Ecology. The position or function of an organism in a community of plants and animals.
For our discussion will concentrate on number 3 “a distinct segment of a market”
An example would be, if your chosen niche is “how to lose weight” a distinct segment of the health and wellness market, you might start creating information products on diet and exercise, or information on the possible benefits and consequences of a specific nutritional regime.
Take some time and think and write down the things you might want to be a part of, things you may already have some expertise or even just something that has worked for you in solving a problem in your life.
Once you have done that or if you already have a chosen niche or expertise, then the next step is to research your competition.
Get to know what your competitors are doing; find out what products they are promoting, do they have an email newsletter? Do they have multiple products? Are they promoting their products on more than just there web site? Do they use pay per click? How are they promoting their products? Are they information products or physical products? Do they have a way that you can also promote their products?
Just because there is a lot of competition in your chosen niche, don’t let that discourage you; a lot of competition only proves that a niche is profitable.
Now that you have a niche chosen, you need to purchase a domain name.
This is the name people type into their internet browser to find your site.
They are not expensive between $7.00 and $20.00 for most names.
I recommend you do this as soon as possible; you don’t want someone else to register the name you might want to use.
I would suggest either www.namecheap.com or www.godaddy.com
The next step is to begin to set up your blog or website. Having your own blog/and or website is in my opinion a critical piece of your marketing success, Without one it will be much more difficult to show people that you’re a leader in your field, or be able to communicate to the public who you are and what you promote.
Setting up a website or blog need not be that difficult or expensive, you can get a hosting account for about $5.00 per month, you can purchase templates and modify them fairly easily, you can go to www.wordpress.org and download there blogging platform for free, and use a free template to make it look nice.
If you still have problems doing this, you can go to www.elance.com or www.rentacoder.com and have someone do this for you for under $100.00
There is so much information about this online that I don’t believe we need to go into detail here in this article. I would however suggest that if you are new to website design you look into how to do some basic modifications, learning these basic skills will help you on your way to success online.
Now you have begun your blog or website you now need a way to capture email address and names of your new clients.
In order to capture your new clients email address you will need to use an auto responder email service; this will cost less than $20.00 per month.
I personally use www.aweber.com but there are many you can choose from, such as ‘get response, constant contact, email aces, 1 shopping cart just to name a few.
With these services you can have them generate a code you place on your website that will capture names and e-mail address of those who sign up to receive your mailings.
Each one of these steps is critical to your success online, without a website or blog you can’t capture names and email addresses and without capturing email addresses you can’t send your new clients information on products that can help them
I would also suggest you set up a separate squeeze page to also use as promotional tool.
A squeeze page is simply a page that has some information about your product and or services and “opt in”, or sign up form with no other links.
It forces the visitor to do one of two things, they can either sign up for your mailing list or they can click away.
Squeeze pages can be very effective in building your mailing list, many marketing professionals who use squeeze pages will offer something for free such as a video or report in exchange for the email address and name.
This can be a great time for you to really show your new clients what you know, and how your product or service can be the solution to their problem or help them achieve there desired results.
I would also suggest that you have your squeeze page send the new client to either your blog or web site so they can read and see more about your product or service or to a sales page where they can purchase from you. This is very easy to do; all you have to do is put in the U.R.L or http address into the form on your auto responder service in place of the thank you page U.R.L.
Content is King, Persistence is Queen
“I sell information in an information based world, People come to the internet looking for information that is either a solution to their problems or helps them achieve a desired result, and people will only buy through me once they perceive me as an authority in my field and a credible source of true honest information”
Now we have this great blog or website up and running with an auto responder email service ready to capture email addresses, we also have a squeeze page, some great content ready to be given away and a sales page so that people can pull out there credit card and pay us to be a solution, great now we are ready to get started.
I am going to go into a lot more detail on payment processing in the future, but for now I will tell you, if you use a service like “click bank” or “commission junction” for your products these services have their own payment processing services, and will send you your commission, however if you are selling your own products an extremely easy solution is pay pal.
Your website or blog is what I refer to as your back end site, now your back end site has got some great content and is ready to be promoted.
Your back end site is merely an extension of yourself, people don’t buy from web sites, they buy from people, people they know like and trust people who provide valuable honest content.
If you provide honest valuable content in a way that people will trust, promoting
Your product or service will not be very difficult. However if you’re like so many on the internet trying to “get the money” people will soon see right through you and you will never be successful online.
Ok back to promoting your site.
What does that mean?
Hungry Market, + List building, + Traffic, plus Testing, + Relationship Email
Marketing, by (Kim Roach) (http://www.buzzblogger.com)
There are 2 basic ways to promote your site, Paid and Free
The Paid ways such as Google Ad Words, can be quite expensive and require skills all their own to master, however for those who wish to learn these skills and have some money to invest, you can become quite successful in a very short period of time.
I personally don’t recommend you start with paid advertising; due to the no cost ways can be as successful, they do however require more time effort and work on your part, but the bonus is that by the time people come to your site, they are already interested in your product or service.
Not only can the paid services require an investment it is not uncommon for those who do not have a good understanding on how to use them correctly, to be paying out more than they are making, instead of making any kind of profit what so ever and to be losing money every day. For someone new to marketing online, this might not be a solution for you, however if this is something you wish to master then I would suggest you look in to some professional products first, you can find huge amounts of information about this topic online or on amazon.com
First Step to Traffic is Focus, Focus, Focus, did I say Focus yet,
You can start with any one of these:
Article Marketing, This is where you post article’s on your topic on sites such as ezine articles.com and other article sites. People find your articles and follow your link to your site to read more about your product and service. A great way to get started
Social Networking sites, these are sites where people come together to find information on each other and there topics, a few of these are Face Book, Twitter, Dig,
Guest Blogging, This is where you make posts on other peoples blog’s and drive traffic from there blog’s to your site, this technique is extremely powerful.
Video Marketing (one of my favorites) this is where you make fun, simple videos and up load your videos to a video host such as youtube.com where you can link them back to your site, and even post them on your site for information.
S.E.O This is also known as Search Engine Optimization, It is my belief you should learn at least a little bit about, search engine optimization, This is where you structure your site using key words and site structure so that the search engines will index it and people can find it via Google, Yahoo, MSN, I personally say don’t get to caught up in S.E.O but write for your people with S.E.O in mind
Forum Marketing this is where you join forums in your chosen niche and post comments and questions, as well as post answers to others questions, many of these forums will let you have a link back to your site in your post. For many marketing professionals, this is where they make great contacts and are able to brand there name or service.
There are many more ways to promote yourself, but the main thing is to start with one and focus on only one until you have it mastered then move to another and focus on the next one then
Rinse Repeat, Rinse Repeat, Rinse Repeat
Just keep doing it with Persistence and Perseverance.
Now we have a great site with new fresh content being updated on a regular basis, we are now using the internet to market our site, as well as building our list of clients on our mailing list. Now it’s time to make some money
A great place to start is with “AFFILIATE MARKETING”
Affiliate marketing is promoting other peoples products for a percentage of the sale.
There are literally thousands of affiliate products you can promote, I would suggest you
Only focus on the niche you have chosen, If you are in the make money online niche, and send out an email promoting weight loss products, it is quite likely that many on your list will quickly UN subscribe and never read another email you send them again.
You have already done the hard work getting them to sign up for your list and creating rapport with them, why would you want to ruin that relationship due to greed.
Focus on your chosen niche, and stay there until you have made it successful, then if you
Wish, you can definitely repeat the steps in another.
Many marketing professionals do exactly this; they focus on one, make it successful, then
Go on to do it again in another; however they start from the beginning in each one.
You have created your site, built your list, and continue to build it larger also your sustaining a long term relationship with your list by sending them great content without always trying to sell them something, You are continually updating your site with new fresh great content. As well as finding great new ways to promote yourself online.
The next stage of our Online Success is to create our own products, or have some products created for us.
At this stage product creation won’t be that difficult, by now you have learned so much about your market, its wants and desires, its struggles and frustrations, and how to solve their problems or how they can achieve their desired result.
All you have to do now is, create or have a product created for you, then promote it, you can also have others you have met along the way to help you promote your product, and in turn promote their products for them.
Once you have reached this stage, all I can say is,
Welcome to Online Success
